Cucurbitaceae

Cucurbitaceae is a dicot plant family with hairy, pentangular stems and large fruit. According to botanists, there are some 130 genera and 800 species. The Atwater Market boasts a wide selection of squash and gourds that would make a delicious addition to your autumn table in a soup, pie, or curry, or simply as a Halloween centrepiece! There are even some that bear a striking resemblance to birds. My discovery of the year, however, was turban squash—it’s like something straight out of a horror flick!

Mother Nature is the ultimate artist.

Oh, and FYI, it’s cucurbitaceae, not curcubitaceae.
